SNL

Let's get one thing straight; I LOVE Saturday Night Live and I LOVE Jimmy Fallon. I live one short 2 hour bus ride away from the greatest city, New York. If I didn't try my hardest to see that show I would be stupid. STUPID.

I talked one of my friends, Lani, into pulling an all-nighter and coming with me to stand in line for a chance to see Jimmy host SNL.

We took the Bolt bus and arrived at NBC studios at about 2 am. Giddy and slightly tired we asked the NBC worker where we needed to stand in line for this opportunity of a lifetime. He gave us directions and we were off....

The line was long, but not too long. We were a little shocked at the length of the line but it was our first time so we figured it'd get longer as the night rolled on. The line did get longer, but not too long, so we thought the odds were in our favor. THOUGHT. At about 4:30 am the line started moving and people started going crazy. Strange. Tickets for SNL don't get handed out until 7 am. Finally we ask a lady what the heck was going on and she started talking about sneakers. I looked at my friend confused and we just kept our spot in line. After 10 minutes I decided to go back to the lady and ask her if this was indeed the line for SNL. I know, we should have done that immediately, like when we got in the line. Again, a mistake I will NOT make when I stand in line again for an opportunity like this. We were in the wrong line. We were in a line for SNEAKERS. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Who stands in line for sneakers?! Have these people not heard of online shopping? Obviously not.

So yes, at 5 am we got in the correct line for Jimmy Fallon. Our chances were looking slim. People have been waiting in line since Thursday night for this. But still willing to give it a shot, we stand in line and wait it out. Tickets get handed out at 7 am and  no matter what everyone gets a ticket, it's just not guaranteed since it's stand by. Exhausted, Lani and I find a movie theater (with lazy boy chairs) and "watch" (or sleep through) The Hobbit.

At 7 pm the line for SNL forms again which is the final line you stand in to see what your fate is. We're pretty far back... BUT I am hopeful! The line moves and we get closer and closer to the front. Then suddenly, twenty people from the front, the line comes to a halt and the terrible, rotten, not very good news is delivered... We didn't make the cut. I didn't cry, but I wanted to. I feel ridiculous admitting that so I'll blame it on the lack of sleep. But thanks to the stupid employee for giving outstanding directions. If it wasn't for you pal I would have TOTALLY made it into that show. Which by the way was an INCREDIBLE show. Probably the best one of the season. But it's okay. There will be other great hosts and I will get in.
